Approved Projects

During the oncoming two years 20 projects are going to be co-financed by dynAlp-climate - the climate project of the network of municipalities "Alliance in the Alps". Out of 45 submitted applications the jury chose eight projects from Italy, three from France and Switzerland, two from Germany and Slovenia as well as one from Austria and one from Liechtenstein. Members

The latest member of the network ist the community Tenna in Graubünden/CH. Over 300 communities throughout the Alps from France to Slovenia joined the "Alliance in the Alps" local authority network to implement the goals of the Alpine Convention for sustainable development in the Alps together. More members

Good Practice

Listed here are successful projects which contribute in an exemplary way to sustainable development in the Alps as set out in the Alpine Convention. The topics range from regional development or agriculture to energy, traffic or tourism.

Latest edition of the Journal of Alpine Research now available online

The latest edition of the international and multidisciplinary “Journal of Alpine Research” is now available online under the title “Mountain Regions as Referents for Collective Action”. It addresses the question of the conditions under which a mountain range can serve as a reference for a regional network and contains previously unpublished papers on politics, organisations and regional identity in the Alpine Arc and other mountain areas. In her article on “The institutionalization of the alpine region: an analysis based on a study of two pan-alpine networks (Alliance in the Alps and Alparc)”, Cristina Del Biaggio describes the role of networks in the process of uniting the countries of the Alps to form one big cross-border region. Among other things, the author describes the functions and challenges faced by “Alliance in the Alps” and the role played by CIPRA in the foundation of the community network.

Climate pact

The alps are affected particularly severely by the consequences of climate change. There are particular opportunities in the Alps for counteracting the causes and consequences of climate change using sustainable development strategies. Thus the Alps have a great opportunity for becoming a model region for climate protection. The climate action plan passed by the X Alpine Conference (Conference of Ministers) in France in 2009 provides an excellent opportunity to do so.
